  2. The entrepreneurial spirit came upon me around the age of 30. Leaving the corporate workforce and becoming a full-time Master-level learner and entrepreneur created a burden on the family. However, the Love of God and family support have kept me motivated.

Resume writing, web site development, and being an independent make-up consultant were my initial ventures. Until I earned a Doctorate's degree, I came to realize my passion -- researching and analyzing data.

Obtaining external support has been more difficult than internal (family members, close friends) support. I am also inspired by a Dean, who is my former Doctoral professor. The "hard work" that this Dean performs encourages me to continue learning to become a more profound scholar.

In this era, female and male entrepreneurs seem to function in a similar manner -- being competitive. My advise to the world of scholars would be to start working in harmony to attempt to solve global problems.

  3. I worked in the corporate and military sector for the majority of my life. I received my Doctorate Degree in Organization Management/Leadership in 2004. In 2006, I was certified as an Integral Life Coach. I coached individuals on a part time basis as a sole proprietor and full time in a corporate and military setting—15+ years in total. Recently, I decided to leave Corporate America and become a full-time entrepreneur. Yes, I made the choice after 25+years working for others and helping them merge, revamp, and outsource their structure.
My passion was always to empower others to find their passion. My coaching business is based on creating brands and restoring images. I also educate people on connecting with their inner selves and taking care of their bodies.
I have several role models. Some I know personally and others I know afar. I resonate with people who never give up on their goals, no matter how long it takes or how many times they fall down. It shows me that nothing is impossible if you really want it.
What helps me to stay focused is to keep a positive attitude. I dare think about the past. There is nothing I can do to change it. I do not focus on the future. I cannot predict it. However, I keep my focus on my vision to ensure my goals are in line with my will to achieve.
The state of the economy is not part of my agenda. I am a spiritual person and I believe that things will get better in time. This is the time for me to plant my seed and watch it grow. When the economy shifts, I will see my hard work come to fruition.
There are several reasons why entrepreneurs fail. From a personal perspective, I would say that the following are some of the reasons – failure to plan (no business plan), lack of positive thinking, failure to take care of their bodies, not asking for help when they need it, trying to predict the future or living in the past, too many naysayers in their lives…just to name a few.
Entrepreneurs should identify their passion. They should work in a field that represents their strength. It is also important to find a niche that represents the needs of your market segment. Network and meet others. Finally, keep focused and remember that you have to work hard to be successful.
